Over the course of the last four decades, Yarkay Group has established a diverse network of businesses covering many important economic sectors. The Group continues to expand through direct undertakings or partnerships in various businesses in the country.
The Directors of the Company are co-promoters and major shareholders of some of the most prominent businesses in the country, some of which are listed below:
• Bhutan National Bank Limited (BNBL):
The Directors of YGPL are one of the largest private shareholders of the bank and often sit in the Board. BNBL is the fastest growing bank and one of the most successful corporate houses in the country.
• Bhutan Tourism Corporation Limited (BTCL):
The Directors are promoters in BTCL which is one of the top three largest travel businesses in the country. In fact BTCL was the only travel operator in the country before it was divested in the early 1990s.
• Druk Ferro Alloys Ltd:
Listed in the Royal Securities Exchange of Bhutan as an independent company, this ferro silicon company is located in the Pasakha Industrial Estate near Phuentsholing. The factory produces over 13,000 MT of ferro silicon a year. The Directors of YGPL are the co-promoters in this venture with 24% shareholding in the company.
• Bhutan EcoLite Brix Private Limited:
The Directors of YGPL hold 40% equity in this venture that manufactures AAC (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) blocks. This was the first of its kind in the country with a fully automated plant and is expected to reduce the dependency on red fired bricks which are being imported from India.
• Druk Mining Private Limited
The Directors are co-promoters in this mining company and hold 24% equity. The company mines quartzite and basic rocks both for sale within the country and for exporting to India and Bangladesh. The company has a crushing plant with an installed capacity of 300TPH that produces various sizes of aggregates and quartzites for the local market.
• Bhutan Times Private Limited:
The Directors of YGPL are promoters of Bhutan Times, the country’s first private newspaper company. Currently, the President of YGPL is serving as the Chairperson of Bhutan Times.
